Assistant to the Foreman
Reports To: Foreman
Job Summary:
The Assistant to the Foreman provides essential support to the Foreman in daily operations, ensuring smooth workflow and efficient production. This role is distinct from an Assistant Foreman and focuses on administrative, logistical, and hands-on tasks. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, possesses a mechanical aptitude, and is physically capable of handling demanding tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Order Management:
- Enter and manage customer orders accurately and efficiently into the company’s system.
- Maintain order records and provide updates as needed.
- Customer Service and Sales Support:
- Answer incoming phone calls and address customer inquiries promptly and professionally.
- Provide support to the sales team by providing information on product availability and order status.
- Shipping and Delivery:
- Manage delivery slips and shipping documentation.
- Coordinate and schedule deliveries.
- Perform deliveries using company vehicle as needed.
- Purchasing:
- Assist in purchasing materials and supplies as directed by the Foreman.
- Obtain quotes from suppliers and maintain purchasing records.
- Night Shift Preparation:
- Assist in preparing materials and equipment for the night shift, ensuring a smooth transition.
- Inventory Management:
- Check and pick materials from inventory based on order requirements.
- Maintain accurate inventory records.
- Shop Tasks:
- Perform small shop tasks, such as cutting materials to specified dimensions.
- Assist in general shop clean up.
- Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions.
- Physical Tasks:
- Safely lift, carry, and maneuver heavy objects as required.
Qualificatons:
- Mechanical aptitude or demonstrable mechanical skills.
- Must be physically able to lift and move heavy objects.
- Must be able to follow directions.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in data entry and basic software applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
