Job Description: Finance Assistant (Part-time Controller)
Camp Ramah in Canada is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Finance Assistant (Part-time Controller) to support our financial operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a mission-driven organization and has a strong foundation in accounting and financial management.
Location: Greater Toronto Area
Schedule: 24–32 hours/week
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and update the chart of accounts
Prepare and post journal entries
Monitor accounts receivable weekly
Make periodic bank deposits
Oversee payroll, including related government reporting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual filings (e.g., WSIB, T4, ROE, Canadian HST)
Reconcile monthly bank and credit card statements
Support the annual religious donation tax receipting process
Assist with processing and tracking scholarships
Qualificatons:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in finance or accounting
Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Financial literacy, including understanding of donation types (preferred)
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent organizational and analytical abilities
Ability to synthesize data from multiple sources without error
Proven reliability, diligence, and strong work ethic
Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Able to work independently and collaboratively
Proficiency with QuickBooks (required)
Familiarity with donation management systems (e.g., eTapestry) is an asset
Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially Excel
Bachelor’s degree (preferred)
Must reside in the Greater Toronto Area
English fluency required
