POSITION SUMMARY

Plaza Ventures is currently seeking a Finance Associate to assist with various accounting and finance duties. This is a full-time role and will be located in Toronto, Ontario and will operate on a hybrid basis.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Lead the production of quarterly and annual financial statements including coordinating with external fund administrators
  • Manage annual audit and year end process including coordinating with our external auditors/advisers
  • Support the annual investment portfolio valuation including preparation of valuation memos
  • Manage day-to-day booking keeping and relationship with external bookkeepers
  • Lead bank account, credit card and other account reconciliations transactions
  • Payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable processing
  • Review and manage service providers in preparation of income, sales and other tax fillings
  • Work with the team to prepare reports, presentations and analysis including waterfalls, budgets and performance forecasts in support of fundraising and other activities.
  • Provide assistance with deal analysis by reviewing company financial models and participating in due diligence of new companies.
  • Responsible for reporting and data analysis for investors/LPs on regular and ad hoc basis
  • Assisting with fundraising and distribution activities such as the collection of investor information through subscription agreements, distributing marketing materials/investor notices and facilitating wire payments
  • Tracking and filing of investment related document
  • Tracking and filing of legal and general corporate related documents.
  • Other activities as required to support the operation and growth of the business
Qualificatons:
  • Two or more years of audit, financial reporting or FP&A experience
  • A strong understanding of the asset management industry, venture capital and funds
  • Accuracy and attention to detail as well as a track record of reliability, confidentiality, and conscientious work habits
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Ability to organize and prioritize effectively
  • Ability to adapt and work efficiently in a rapidly changing dynamic environment with deadline pressures
  • Demonstrated ability in dealing directly with clients and investors.
  • Completed or working towards CPA designation preferred but not required
