Bnei Akiva Schools – IT Manager

Bnei Akiva Schools is seeking a motivated, amiable IT Manager who will provide hardware and software troubleshooting, maintenance and consultation for approximately 40 hours per week. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting and repair of school PC, server, network and A/V hardware; serving as an administrator for GSuite, Microsoft, and Active Directory; and providing ongoing teacher education in technology-adjacent fields. Training provided in advance of start date. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Job Type: Full Time

Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8-5, Friday 8-1 while school is in session

Location and Working Conditions: On-Site – North York

Annual Salary: $60,000-85,000

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manages student and/or staff accounts on GSuite, Microsoft, Active Directory, DigiExam, Securly and Meraki Cloud software
  • Troubleshoots and maintains critical network and computer infrastructure, including servers, switches, access points, routers, firewalls, SMARTBoards, desktop and laptop PCs
  • Provides ongoing technical support to staff and students, both on-location and remotely, as needed
  • Liaises with other staff and companies (e.g., ISP, phone system provider) to ensure all IT systems at the school work smoothly and are appropriately future-proofed
  • Oversees purchasing of new equipment for repairs or upgrades to the network or other computing systems at competitive costs
  • Provides ongoing training and general education to school staff relating to maximizing use of Educational Technology and general best practices
  • Coordinates technology needs for major in-school events such as Exams, OSSLT, Open-houses and more
  • Performs basic in-house maintenance on printers and copiers
  • Oversees the security of the school’s network, including safely managing VPN and remote connections, firewall and other security software
  • Potential for job growth into areas such as Website Design and Maintenance, Student Information System Oversight and more
Qualificatons:

The qualified applicant must have:

  • A recent CompTIA A+ (or equivalent) certification; other IT certifications (from any of CompTIA, Microsoft, Google or Cisco) are recommended
  • Basic networking and PC-building experience

 

The qualified applicant should have:

  • A positive demeanour, be friendly and easy to work with
  • A willingness to learn new things and be ready to participate in ongoing education
  • A passion for problem-solving, and be able to think outside-the-box
  • Familiarity with specific software platforms listed above is an asset
  • Prior experience in a similar setting is an asset
