Beth Sholom Synagogue, in the heart of the GTA is looking for a Kitchen Manager.

This is a full-time position that reports to the Facilities Manager, and liaises with the Ritual Coordinator and the Office Manager. This position oversees several part-time people who work in partnership with the Kitchen Manager. This is a dynamic and exciting position with opportunity to be creative, strategic, and impact member engagement.

General Overview of Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve breakfast every morning
  • Food preparation and cooking: mix tuna, egg, make soups, lasagna, quiches, etc…
  • Prepare and serve Kiddush on Shabbat (Saturday)
  • Weekly ordering food products and linens from our vendors
  • Food shopping
  • Prepare lunch once per week for our seniors’ group
  • Occasional evening work, a split shift could be necessary.
  • Oversee 3-4 PT helpers in the kitchen
  • Works in close partnership with the 3 maintenance staff
  • Minimum 2 – 5 years of related experience
  • Food Handler’s Certificate
  • Understanding of basic Kosher food preparations and requirements is a bonus
  • Customer service oriented
