About the Position

The Membership Engagement Manager reports to the Executive Director and works in close collaboration with the Temple Sinai clergy and administrative team to foster a vibrant, welcoming and inclusive community within Temple Sinai.  This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to attract, engage, and retain members by building strong relationships, enhancing the overall member experience, and promoting the Temple’s programs and services.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Engage with prospective members about the membership process and benefits of joining the Temple Sinai community
  • Regularly engage with current members to ensure they feel connected to the Temple community
  • Coordinate and manage the communication process to ensure the clergy team is regularly updated on significant member milestones, as well as individual and family circumstances, fostering personalized support and engagement
  • Manage communications with members through newsletters, emails, and social media to keep them informed of upcoming events, opportunities, and Temple updates.
  • Track engagement levels and participation in events and programs to identify trends and opportunities for improvement and additional engagement
  • Oversee the annual membership renewal process, including the preparation and distribution of communication materials, contribution statements, and High Holy Day tickets, ensuring a seamless and timely experience for members
  • Manage and coordinate key membership lifecycle events, including namings, brit milah, brit banot, weddings, and funerals, ensuring all necessary documentation and arrangements are in place
  • Maintain and update the membership database
  • Other duties as occasionally required to support the administrative team
Qualificatons:
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage comfortably with members of all ages and address sensitive or difficult topics with empathy and professionalism
  • Highly organized and collaborative team player, adept at managing complex details and data while coordinating effectively across multiple team members
  • Outstanding communication skills, capable of effectively conveying messages across a variety of platforms and mediums.
  • A demonstrated passion for community building, with a commitment to fostering meaningful connections, creating an inclusive environment, and actively supporting the growth and well-being of the community.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to self-motivate and collaborate effectively with others to achieve common goals.
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field, as well as 5-7 years relevant work experience
  • Prior experience working in the Jewish community is considered an asset
