Lighthouse Credit Union is looking to hire a Personal Banker!

Lighthouse is a Credit Union created to serve all of the banking needs of Toronto’s Jewish community. We’ve been operating since June 2022, with our presence being mostly online, and have opened our first branch earlier this year. We are looking for someone with front end experience to work at and help manage this branch. We offer a modest mix of financial products such as chequing accounts, high-interest saving accounts, mortgages, and GICs, with at least a dozen new products currently in the works. We plan to be rolling out these new products over the coming weeks, including TFSAs, RRSPs, Investments, credit cards, personal loans, lines of credit and much more.

We are a start-up with the goal to grow into a full-scale banking institution, and we need the right talent to help us reach our goal!

The Role:

Personal Banker:

As we are a start-up, this role will provide a lot more growth opportunity than standard Personal Banker or Teller positions.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting the Branch Manager in running a successful branch.
• Being the first point of contact for clients who enter the branch and greeting them.
• Providing the highest level of service to all clients, both current and potential.
• Opening memberships and accounts for clients and selling them on our other products and services.
• Making daily entries into our banking system, and ensuring client and system information is up to date.
• Completing all front-end work that makes a branch run, assisting clients in onboarding and account opening, handling cheques and cash, manually entering certain daily transactions, collaborating with the Branch Manager on your work, etc…
• Assisting in implementing new product and service offerings in the branch, and implementing new procedures.

The above role is a traditional branch role, with a non-traditional component to it. As we are a start-up and this is our first ever branch, there will be a lot of opportunities provided with this role that are not available in already-established banks or credit unions. The Personal Banker role will have opportunities outside of its normal scope, to help build infrastructure and procedures, to implement new products and services, improve the branch experience, and much more. This additional scope will be compensated for accordingly.
