Programming & Events Coordinator

Beth Avraham Yoseph of Toronto (BAYT) is Canada’s largest Orthodox synagogue and the vibrant spiritual home of 750+ member families who represent the full spectrum of Orthodoxy. BAYT is looking to hire a full-time Programming & Events Coordinator. The role includes working closely with our many dedicated volunteers, our clergy and other professionals to: plan, coordinate, promote and deliver on our many varied cultural, social, educational, and community service programs as well as booking and promoting private events and simchas. At BAYT we believe this role is essential for outreach to members and the community, as well as to help advance our community’s vision of engagement and growth.

 

The Programming & Events Coordinator is responsible for the following:

  • Managing Shabbat/Chagim programming
  • Planning and implementing Adult Education events
  • Planning and implementing Social/Community programs from young adults to seniors
  • Coordinating Chessed efforts
  • Planning & implementing inclusion programming
  • Supporting Lay led programs
  • Building community partnerships
  • Promoting and overseeing rental bookings for simchas and special events

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The role includes:

  • Identifying topics of interest, guest speakers/ lecturers/ panelists and content of programs
  • Recruiting volunteers
  • Managing the program budget
  • Working with BAYT staff and vendors to ensure the logistics for each program
  • Creating flyers and other materials to help advertise and market events
  • Providing great customer service to organizations and customers wanting to rent our facility
Qualificatons:
  • A strong understanding of Jewish traditions, holidays and rituals
  • Experience developing, implementing, and managing cultural and/or educational programs for 20s/30s, adults and seniors
  • Proficiency with digital marketing technology
  • Effective organizational skills in managing scheduling, planning, program logistics, and publicity
  • Excellent interpersonal skills in working with volunteers, colleagues and the community
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to manage time independently and to work with minimal supervision
  • A willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
  • Proficient computer skills; experience with ShulCloud and Canva or similar
