JOB PURPOSE
As the VP of Finance & Operations, you will work alongside a passionate group of 6 seasoned leaders, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and collaborating closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). With the support of 2 direct reports, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial strategy and oversight of the organization.
This senior leadership position is essential to driving the financial health and long-term success of the organization. You will take the lead in overseeing the organization’s accounting operations, bringing a strategic mindset to financial management, analysis, and organizational development. Your expertise will guide the company’s financial decisions, ensuring stability, growth, and alignment with our broader vision.
OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES
In this pivotal position, you’ll take charge of managing the monthly and annual financial reporting process, ensuring the timely and accurate submission of all regulatory and statutory requirements. You’ll spearhead the implementation of streamlined effective accounting systems and practices to deliver comprehensive, high-quality financial reports that reflect an accurate, timely financial picture of the organization.
Your role will also include overseeing the maintenance of accounting systems, establishing robust controls, and managing the budget to mitigate risk and promote efficiency. You will ensure that all financial instruments comply with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), as well as any additional directives from the Finance Committee.
In addition to overseeing core financial operations, you’ll lead the integration of our accounting database with reporting mechanisms and systems, ensuring that all processes are efficient and aligned with the organization’s goals.
In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the operational backbone of our organization. By overseeing critical aspects of our facilities and IT infrastructure, and leveraging external resources, to ensure that all operations run smoothly, efficiently, and securely.

Qualificatons:
Experience and Qualifications:
- CPA designation (desired)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior financial role working in the charitable/not-for-profit sector
- Strong knowledge and understanding of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and FAS (Financial Accounting Standards)
- Highly tech-oriented, strong experience with QuickBooks and CRM Database Management (or similar financial and donor systems)
- Experience working with and presenting to Board committees
- Broad business knowledge, experience, and understanding of organizational structures
- Experience supervising staff and managing external relationships
