Job Description
JACS (Jewish Addiction Community Services) Toronto is seeking a skilled and compassionate Clinical Therapist to join our growing team. This role involves providing high-quality individual and group counselling to clients impacted by addiction, trauma, and related mental health concerns. The successful candidate will demonstrate a trauma-informed, client-centred approach and a commitment to supporting individuals at all stages of recovery. This position reports to the Clinical Director and plays a vital role within a collaborative and supportive clinical team.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing one-on-one counselling to clients dealing with addiction and concurrent mental health challenges
- Facilitate or co-facilitate weekly group therapy sessions (in-person and/or virtual)
- Conduct initial consultation calls to assess client needs and provide recommendations
- Participate in weekly clinical supervision and regular staff meetings (in-person)
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and case notes
- Assist in collecting and organizing clinical data for evaluation and reporting
- Support client intake processes and outreach efforts as needed
- Offer crisis intervention and risk assessments when necessary
- Serve as a welcoming, responsive first point of contact for clients reaching out to JACS
- Assist with the intake and referral process as assigned by the Clinical Director
- Provide high-quality support with empathy, discretion, and attention to client needs
- Maintain accurate, confidential client records
Qualificatons:
We are looking for a dedicated professional with a strong foundation in addiction and mental health counselling. The ideal candidate will bring:
- Master of Social Work (MSW) or Master of Counselling Psychology (required)
- 3–5 years of experience in direct clinical practice related to addiction, trauma, and mental health
- Experience treating both substance use and process addiction
- Knowledge of behavioural addictions (asset)
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and experience supporting clients through complex recovery journeys
- Experience working with diverse populations and individuals across the recovery continuum (e.g., abstinence, harm reduction)
- Comfort with virtual therapy platforms (Zoom, Cliniko, or similar)
- Strong intake, assessment, and referral skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including proficiency in clinical documentation
- Capacity to respond quickly and effectively to crisis situations
- Knowledge of the Jewish community and its resources (an asset)
- Familiarity with the Orthodox Jewish community (an asset)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general ease with technology
- Availability to work some evenings as required
