Job Description
JACS (Jewish Addiction Community Services) Toronto is seeking a compassionate, engaging, and community-minded professional to join our team as a Community Outreach Coordinator. This role is focused on strengthening community relationships, increasing awareness of JACS services and programs, and supporting outreach initiatives across the Greater Toronto Jewish community.
The successful candidate will be comfortable engaging with individuals of all ages, speaking publicly, facilitating programs, and building meaningful relationships with community members, schools, synagogues, and partner organizations. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, initiative, and a passion for reducing stigma surrounding addiction and mental health.
This position reports to the Clinical Director and Director of Operations and plays a vital role within a collaborative and supportive team environment. Please note this role is in-office Monday to Thursday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and remote Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Evening and weekend availability is required based on programming and community event needs.
Community Engagement & Outreach
- Serve as a key representative of JACS at community events, schools, synagogues, camps, and partner organizations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, families, youth, and individuals seeking support, education, or involvement with JACS programming.
Program Development & Facilitation
- Support the development, coordination, and facilitation of outreach initiatives, educational workshops, prevention programming, and community events
- Assist in identifying opportunities to expand engagement and increase awareness surrounding addiction and mental health within the Jewish community.
Relationship Building & Support
- Foster meaningful connections with individuals and families connected to JACS through ongoing communication, supportive outreach, and community engagement opportunities
- Help create welcoming, inclusive, and stigma-free spaces for community members.
Public Speaking & Education
- Deliver presentations and educational workshops to small and large groups, including schools, camps, community organizations, and partner agencies
- Represent JACS professionally and confidently in community-facing settings.
Qualificatons:
- Post-secondary education in Addictions & Mental Health, or related field
- 2+ years of experience in community engagement, outreach, programming, or related field
- Demonstrated experience working in or with Jewish communities and familiarity with Jewish traditions, holidays, customs, and cultural values
- Experience working with children and youth is considered a strong asset
- Experience developing and facilitating programs, workshops, or community initiatives
- Confidence in public speaking and presenting to both small and large groups
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Ability to work evenings and weekends in alignment with programming and community event needs.
